 1 ) 值得二刷的好劇吧

比我年紀(jì)還大的一部短劇,BBC出的又一款經(jīng)典,可以讓人克服那個(gè)年代的渣畫(huà)質(zhì)。全劇四個(gè)小時(shí),節(jié)奏緊湊。我?guī)缀醴植磺暹@是愛(ài)情還是欲望還是什么。片子的元素乍一看有同妻、出軌、婚外戀、女女。要說(shuō)Mar和Violet之間是愛(ài)情、是欲望、是想要占有對(duì)方,應(yīng)該不會(huì)有人反對(duì)。但是Mar與她丈夫之間到底是一種什么感情,Violet與她丈夫之間又是什么關(guān)系,總感覺(jué)三言兩語(yǔ)說(shuō)不清道不明。一個(gè)人會(huì)同時(shí)愛(ài)上兩個(gè)人嗎?女主對(duì)丈夫是戀人還是朋友間的愛(ài)?Violet依舊與丈夫保持關(guān)系這是欲望的貪婪還只是逢場(chǎng)作戲?亦或者Violet真的沒(méi)有對(duì)女主不忠?一切都是合約婚姻?每個(gè)人對(duì)這些關(guān)系的理解肯定不盡相同。在我看來(lái),女主與丈夫友大于愛(ài),Violet是一個(gè)誘惑人的小妖精,及時(shí)行樂(lè),追求欲望的滿足。兩位丈夫都還算紳士,雖然有對(duì)妻子有所不滿,卻仍然關(guān)心愛(ài)護(hù)與尊重他們。

劇情有起有伏,起伏中突出了女主對(duì)追求真愛(ài)放棄婚姻這一決定的搖擺不定,也為最后決定離開(kāi)家庭鋪墊了許多,使得她們兩個(gè)之間的感情表現(xiàn)得更加濃烈。四個(gè)人之間的關(guān)系往往被拆成三個(gè)人一起展示,角色間有制衡,使戲劇張力更強(qiáng)。

And on the other hand stands my perverted nature, which loved and tyrannized over Rosamund and ended by deserting her without one heart-pang, and which now is linked irremediably with Violet. I have here a scrap of paper on which Violet, intuitive psychologist, has scribbled, "The upper half of your face is so pure and grave - almost childlike. And the lower half is so domineering, sensual, almost brutal - it is the most absurd contrast, and extraordinarily symbolical of your Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde personality." That is the whole crux of the matter, and I see now that my whole curse has been a duality with which I was too weak and too self-indulgent to struggle.

Mitya, I can't face this existence. I shall see you once again on Monday and it depends on you whether we shall ever see each other again.

It is really wicked and horrible. I am losing every atom of self-respect I ever possessed. I hate myself. 0 Mitya, what have you done to me? 0 my darling, precious love, what is going to become of use

I want you every second and every hour of the day, yet I am being slowly and inexorably tied to somebody else... Sometimes I am flooded by an agony of physical longing for you... a craving for your nearness and your touch. At other times I feel I should be quite content if I could only hear the sound of your voice. I try so hard to imagine your lips on mine. Never was there such a pitiful imagining.... Darling, whatever it may cost us, my mother won't be cross with you any more. I suppose this ridiculous engagement will set her mind at rest....

Nothing and no one in the world could kill the love I have for you. I have surrendered my whole individuality, the very essence of my being to you. She (Vita) didn't know how strong and dangerous such passion could be, until Violet replaced Rosamund. Of course she knew that "such a thing existed", but she did not give it a name, and felt no guilt about it. At the time of her marriage she may have been ignorant that men could feel for other men as she had felt for Rosamund, but when she had made this discovery in Harold himself, it did not come as a great shock to her, for she had the romantic notion that it was natural and salutary for "people" to love each other, and the desire to kiss and touch was simply the physical expression of affection, and it made no difference whether it was affection between people of the same sex or the opposite.

It was fortunate that both were made that way. If only one of them had been, their marriage would probably have collapsed. Violet did not destroy their physical union; she simply provided the alternative for which Vita was unconsciously seeking at the moment when her physical passion for Harold, and his for her, had begun to cool. In Harold's life at that time there was no male Violet, luckily for him, since his love for Vita might not have survived two rivals simultaneously. Before he met Vita he had been half-engaged to another girl, Eileen Wellesley. He was not driven to homosexuality by Vita's temporary desertion of him, because it had always been latent, but his loneliness may have encouraged this tendency to develop, since with his strong sense of duty (much stronger than Vita's) he felt it to be less treacherous to sleep with men in her absence than with other women. When he was left stranded in Paris, he once confessed to Vita that he was "spending his time with rather low people, the demi-monde", and this could have meant young men. When she returned to him, it certainly did. Lady Sackville noted in her diary, "Vita intends to be very platonic with Harold, who accepts it like a lamb.' They never shared a bedroom after that.

第一次見(jiàn)到Vita的名字是在Virginia Woolf的百科里,一句“和薇塔開(kāi)始一段親密關(guān)系”一下便吸引了我。
眾所周知Virginia的神經(jīng)敏感、精神衰弱,而Vita究竟是怎樣一個(gè)的一個(gè)女人?可以讓Virginia如此著迷?于是這就誘發(fā)了我忍受沒(méi)有字幕幾乎近似于練習(xí)聽(tīng)力地去看這部電影的欲望。

如果你有研究過(guò)Vita,你會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)這是一個(gè)非常不一樣的女人。她曾經(jīng)交往的女友中有小說(shuō)家Violet Trefusis(即電影中的女二),意識(shí)流大師、20世紀(jì)最偉大的女性作家Virginia Woolf,BBC談話節(jié)目的領(lǐng)軍人物Hilda Matheson,被評(píng)為最佳記者的Evelyn Irons等等。
用原著作者,也就是Vita的兒子Nigel Nicolson的話說(shuō)就是“Vita一直都在戀愛(ài)”,而這句話還可以補(bǔ)上“Vita一直在和那些不平凡的女人戀愛(ài)。”

對(duì)于Vita和Harold的關(guān)系,有一種普遍說(shuō)法——Vita和Harold都是同性戀,在婚姻之下,兩人各自尋找自己的同性伴侶,而保持一種相互尊重的關(guān)系。電影里的Harold卻是一個(gè)愛(ài)Vita愛(ài)得死去活來(lái)的政客。個(gè)人更傾向于前者的說(shuō)法,因?yàn)闅v史上Vita除了Violet還有很多同性戀人,而電影里的Harold顯然不會(huì)讓這種事情多次發(fā)生。這種關(guān)系很快讓我聯(lián)想到了Virginia Woolf和Leonard的婚姻,同樣也是一種戰(zhàn)友之情多于愛(ài)人之情的婚姻。而電影里的Harold也許真的為了所謂“戲劇效果”白白犧牲了,成為一個(gè)小肚雞腸偽善的男人,每次看到他那種憨厚無(wú)害的笑容,我就頭皮發(fā)麻。他可以一邊微笑地理解Vita,卻一邊聯(lián)合另一個(gè)男人去阻止;他可以一邊微笑地同情Vita,卻一邊為Violet的訂婚歡呼。唯一值得安慰的是,在陪伴著一個(gè)漸漸少了快樂(lè)的Vita身邊近半個(gè)世紀(jì)以后,他終于又想到了他之前的承諾“我會(huì)愛(ài)你的朋友,即使是Violet.”但曲終人散,后悔也改變不了結(jié)局,改變不了Vita.

影片的Vita在開(kāi)場(chǎng)不久就讓我有一種Virginia的既視感,相比時(shí)時(shí)刻刻中的略顯瘋癲的Nicole Kidman,Janet McTeer可以說(shuō)是Virginia的再世!時(shí)而冷靜和時(shí)而瘋狂,時(shí)而尖酸時(shí)而友善。值得一提的是,我還發(fā)現(xiàn)百度百科的Virginia的照片其實(shí)是Vita的,這一巧合還有趣地讓我發(fā)現(xiàn),實(shí)際上她們長(zhǎng)得也很像。

Janet McTeer的表演堪稱“完美”,特別是在聽(tīng)到Violet結(jié)婚消息時(shí),還有得知Violet的丈夫曾“侵占”過(guò)Violet時(shí),那種激憤、絕望的神情,簡(jiǎn)直把作為觀眾的我壓抑得無(wú)法呼吸。導(dǎo)演選角選得太好了,化妝也好,也或許是Janet McTeer天生就是如此…看看歷史中的Vita,和電影中的Janet McTee,長(zhǎng)得幾乎是一模一樣!看過(guò)很多電影,也喜歡過(guò)一些電影明星,但Janet McTee是第一個(gè)讓我情不自禁感嘆“演技好”的演員,以至于讓我產(chǎn)生Janet McTee就是Vita的錯(cuò)覺(jué)。

這部老迷你劇已經(jīng)老得連字幕都找不到了,確實(shí)是很大的遺憾,但是,演員們出色的表演已經(jīng)完全表現(xiàn)出了字幕應(yīng)該有的內(nèi)容,甚至是更多。

婚姻,百家就有百像。這一副BBC于1990年拍攝的屬于二戰(zhàn)英國(guó)一對(duì)上流社會(huì)夫婦的婚姻畫(huà)像,驚世駭俗,令人難以置信卻又真實(shí)無(wú)比。該劇集改編自一部1973年寫(xiě)成的紀(jì)傳體,作者是書(shū)中主角Vita Sackville-West 的兒子,他以其母的日記和信件為參考記述還原了其父母50年的婚姻生活,曲折離奇的感情世界和他們所分享的獨(dú)特的愛(ài)和理解。這足以說(shuō)明影片雖然源自于生活,提煉自生活,生活本身卻遠(yuǎn)比影片要豐富多彩,出人意表。

二戰(zhàn)的英國(guó),女詩(shī)人Vita和外交官Harold擁有一個(gè)舒適的婚姻,美滿的四口之家和風(fēng)光秀麗未被戰(zhàn)火侵?jǐn)_的田園別墅。一日Harold遠(yuǎn)行歸來(lái)卻舉止異常,小別不勝新婚,反而讓嬌妻獨(dú)守空房。避無(wú)可避或者也是不想回避時(shí),他痛哭著懺悔了一場(chǎng)外遇。他adore她,worship她,可是還是難免有怦然心動(dòng)于他人的時(shí)刻,尤令她震驚的,是與同性。她悒郁難解,直到童年玩伴Violet來(lái)訪,一段從此延續(xù)了一輩子的孽緣自此浮出水面,而種子,早在少年戲耍時(shí)即已被種下;她愛(ài)她,她懵懂無(wú)知,直到燭光下的這一夜,一個(gè)多情,一個(gè)脆弱,眉目傳情之際,暗流洶涌;兩唇相觸之時(shí),天暈地旋。有了第一次,就會(huì)有第二次,第三次。七情六欲,乃人之常情;是凡人,常常難以抵抗誘惑,何況還有情,款款深情,自是無(wú)堅(jiān)而不催;何況有他背叛在先,更是為她大開(kāi)便捷之門(mén)。于是,爐火邊,暗室里,小湖上,樹(shù)蔭下,人影雙雙,難分難舍,處處皆是伊甸園。只是有點(diǎn)不懂,三人行,Vita何以能如此坦然,全無(wú)罪疚之念?

戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)結(jié)束,捷報(bào)傳來(lái),他歸家,她卻離家;她和她,周游世界,從此夜夜笙歌,蜜意濃情;周遭人皆是風(fēng)景,俱是陪襯。Violet的眼中,只有一個(gè)她;Vita,則是故國(guó)家園,夫君幼子,俱拋腦后,偶爾惦起,也在她的柔情似水中模糊。圣誕歸家之約,自此化為烏有;一張親密照片,他不得不面對(duì)真相。

未必倦游,卻不得不歸家,夢(mèng)幻之旅,總有一個(gè)結(jié)束的時(shí)候?;丶遥鎸?duì)的是孩子怯怯的疏離的表情;面對(duì)的是母親喋喋不休的告誡;面對(duì)的,也是曾經(jīng)把臂同游的愛(ài)人一聲聲急切的呼喚:“I’m dying, come back to me, save my life.”然而,獨(dú)立懸崖,遠(yuǎn)眺海景,她也會(huì)對(duì)他傾吐心聲:“you are my only anchor……”??墒牵瑯与y阻她對(duì)她的沉溺和癡迷。一張Violet和她不懈的追求者Denys的結(jié)婚告示,引來(lái)Vita失控的憤怒和嫉妒,Harold喜悅的”thank god”。

“My life in your hand, do not fail me.”, “Come to pairs with me”, 兩個(gè)聲音交織糾纏,都是所愛(ài)。他和她之間,Vita終于無(wú)視Violet的哭泣,決然離開(kāi),選擇和他共赴巴黎。雖然她幾乎虛弱得不能行走,雖然她猶豫叫嚷著要回去,在他堅(jiān)定的扶持下,她和她終于天各一方。教堂里,圣壇上,新娘淚流滿面,自然不是幸福的淚水;另一頭,Vita緊緊拽著戒指,滿面淚水。可是,還是分開(kāi)了。她又終于妒火難忍,風(fēng)馳電掣,一場(chǎng)奔襲,憤怒的譴責(zé)她掠奪她,再次離開(kāi)她。從此后,舊游地,昔日歡顏,痕跡處處,窈窕身影,又怎能,說(shuō)忘就忘?縱有夫賢子孝,錦衣玉食,又怎抵,相思之蝕骨穿腸?

再相見(jiàn),一場(chǎng)纏綿,她終于決定和Violet一起生活。于Violet而言,婚姻不過(guò)是個(gè)面具,她待他如草芥,總是會(huì)毫不猶豫的奔向Vita。而他,居然也會(huì)愛(ài)她到愿意維持一個(gè)無(wú)性的婚姻。和Violet相比,Vita和Harold的婚姻顯然要相敬如賓得多,而且更絕的是,Vita拒絕說(shuō)謊,既不愿為她和Violet的關(guān)系說(shuō)謊,也不愿給Harold任何虛假的希望,以為這一段婚外情不如他們的婚姻重要。真實(shí)的,有點(diǎn)殘酷。至于Harold,也算百年難遇的奇男子,他居然愿意給予妻子絕對(duì)的自由,袖手旁觀這一段婚外情愈演愈烈。和朋友的一席談話,他也承認(rèn)嫉妒是不可避免的,不過(guò)他能理解他妻子由激情所引致的痛苦,至于他,因?yàn)槟軐⑶橛珠_(kāi),所以沒(méi)那么痛苦。而最終,Vita因?yàn)閺?qiáng)烈的占有欲產(chǎn)生的嫉妒和Violet分開(kāi),她倦鳥(niǎo)知返,還是回到了他身邊,攜手到老,相濡與沫50年。只是時(shí)隔多年后的一個(gè)電話,依然能讓她淚如泉涌,回憶紛至沓來(lái)。誰(shuí)是真愛(ài),最愛(ài)是誰(shuí),恐怕她自己也難以辨別吧?!又或者,兩者根本無(wú)從比較起。

哦,怎樣的一副婚姻畫(huà)像,不由人不感慨人類感情的復(fù)雜無(wú)解,不由人不困惑人性的莫測(cè)高深。這一對(duì)夫婦的自由意識(shí),婚姻之道,是遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)的走在他們的時(shí)代之前。看著他們,讓人不得不疑惑一直以來(lái)衡量婚姻成功與否真愛(ài)與否的標(biāo)準(zhǔn),是否太單一太狹隘了呢?愛(ài)既可以是排他的專一的霸道的,也還可以是溫柔寬厚的理解包容的忍讓謙卑的吧?愛(ài)和婚姻,它們的具體表像之多樣也許遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)超越我們所能想像的。若為局外人,請(qǐng)只是旁觀,不要輕易去judge。若是當(dāng)事人,則冷暖自知,自有其考量取舍。

問(wèn)問(wèn)自己吧,當(dāng)你絕望時(shí),當(dāng)你沮喪痛苦時(shí),誰(shuí),會(huì)是你第一時(shí)間想到的人?是誰(shuí)的肩膀,讓你渴望去依靠休憩?又是誰(shuí)的懷抱,是你愿意肆無(wú)忌憚的淚濕衣襟的?如果這個(gè)人,恰恰又是你最渴望最愿意與之訴說(shuō)分享一切的那一個(gè),這個(gè)人,就是你的最愛(ài)了。

 5 ) 【考據(jù)向】簡(jiǎn)單的時(shí)間線梳理:Vita 和她的女人們

看完《婚姻的肖像》和《薇塔與維吉尼亞》,做一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單的時(shí)間線梳理。

Vita Sackville-West,全名 Victoria Mary Sackville-West,生卒年1892-1962,終年70歲。

童年:1906–1910

童年時(shí)期,Vita 在女子學(xué)校 Helen Wolff's school 上學(xué)。此時(shí)她并不合群,時(shí)常覺(jué)得孤獨(dú),深夜在 Knole 不停寫(xiě)作。不過(guò),此時(shí)她認(rèn)識(shí)了初戀們 Violet Keppel 和 Rosamund Grosvenor。

1910年,Vita 正式進(jìn)入社交圈。

初戀:Rosamund Grosvenor

It is incredible how essential to me you have become. I suppose you are accustomed to people saying these things. Damn you, spoilt creature; I shan’t make you love me any the more by giving myself away like this — but oh my dear, I can’t be clever and stand-offish with you: I love you too much for that. Too truly. You have no idea how stand-offish I can be with people I don’t love. I have brought it to a fine art. But you have broken down my defences. And I don’t really resent it.”

But it did not make me cheerful … And ever since, nothing important has happened — Somehow it’s dull and damp. I have been dull; I have missed you. I do miss you. I shall miss you.  6 ) 到底愛(ài)情是什么?

這部1990年拍攝的短劇無(wú)論是在內(nèi)容還拍攝質(zhì)量上都是上乘的作品,有時(shí)候我們會(huì)有個(gè)奇怪的偏見(jiàn),總覺(jué)得我們現(xiàn)在的生活或者思想是進(jìn)化而來(lái)的,也就是現(xiàn)在總會(huì)超越從前,但事實(shí)卻是,歷史是不斷重復(fù)的,而我們認(rèn)為的超越是在一個(gè)跨度特別大的時(shí)空范圍里來(lái)說(shuō)的。這部短劇講的是20世紀(jì)初的一段婚姻故事,但不尋常的地方就是處在婚姻中的女人和其他的女人之間的糾葛,以及整個(gè)故事結(jié)束的方式。這其實(shí)是一段真實(shí)的故事,就是劇中vita的兒子根據(jù)他父母的故事寫(xiě)的一本書(shū)就叫《婚姻的肖像》,書(shū)里的大部分內(nèi)容都是根據(jù)他父母的書(shū)信整理的。
    vita和Violet的感情糾葛雖然只有短短的三年時(shí)間,最后也是被迫分開(kāi),在她們分開(kāi)后的二十年間都沒(méi)有聯(lián)系,但在在書(shū)里有講到,vita在接到violet的電話后寫(xiě)信給她,說(shuō)自己不敢再見(jiàn)violet,因?yàn)榕伦约簳?huì)再愛(ài)上她。
